My Inspiration

17059_1108495812315_1824435128_218110_4593955_n-213x300 This blog is titled after and inspired by my mother, Fannie Marie Clark Rogers Love. My mom grew up in Oklahoma and later moved to Kansas as a young bride where she loved to cook the most delicious Midwestern comfort food I’ve ever put in my mouth, rarely reading a recipe and making everything from scratch.  In short, my mom nurtured us with her love of good food, she truly enjoyed spending time in the kitchen just as I do and I consider myself fortunate to have learned from watching, listening and cooking with her. After she was gone I acquired most of her vintage cookbooks and stained recipe cards, this website is a collaboration of my mother’s old, classic favorites and also some of those that I have collected over the years since I left home and began to cook for my own family.

I moved to Texas in 1984 and now live on a small piece of heaven in a little town called Granbury with my husband David, 4 horses, 2 dogs and 5 barncats. Our blended family of 5 children has blessed us with 4 grandchildren and cooking for all of these people, big and small, is pretty much my greatest joy.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I have, it’s truly a  pleasure to share them with you!

About My Recipes

Many of the recipes on this website are family treasures, others are those that I’ve tried from various blogs, shows and cookbooks. If I enjoy it then I feel inspired to share it!

It’s pretty rare that I follow the directions exactly as another cook writes a recipe unless I’m baking. I just can’t resist a “change here and there” to see if I can make it my own! So if I’ve taken a recipe word for word I will link it to the author’s website, if not I will usually note that I’ve adapted it from another chef, blogger or friend.

Much of the credit for food photography goes to my husband David.  I’m starting to feel more confident taking pictures now but David is responsible for some of the really beautiful shots you see as you scroll through my recipes. He also designed the website and I’m so grateful for his support. My mom inspired me to cook and my husband was the inspiration behind my decision to share my love of cooking with others.

I hope you enjoy the recipes that you find on My Mother’s Daughter!

Chris
