Constance Jennings brought this cake to work for our annual physician’s Christmas luncheon. It is the most delicious and moist cake ever, the perfect dessert!
Ingredients (for the cake):
1 cup butter
4 large eggs
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsps. vanilla
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
Ingredients (for the butter sauce):
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup butter
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter with 2 cups sugar. Combine flour, salt, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. soda. Combine 1 cup buttermilk with 2 tsp. vanilla. Add milk and flour mixtures alternately to the creamed mixture. Mix well.
Turn batter into greased 10″ bundt pan. Bake for 60-65 minutes.
While cake is baking make the butter sauce by melting the butter and adding 1 tbsp. vanilla.
When cake is out of the oven but still hot, poke holes in the top with a fork. Pour butter sauce slowly over the cake while it is still in the pan. Cool before removing.
